Selection criteria
Push the community forward, don't recycle content
We want original content at any level, without falling back on recycled material. Before you submit, answer this: what angle does your work have that the published material doesn't, and what does the community walk away with?
We're looking for this
- Original or unpublished research
- Advanced techniques with a live demo, or recorded if the demo gods don't cooperate
- Real-world cases: what failed and what worked
- Tools you built yourself
- Niche content: Car Hacking, OT/ICS, AI/ML Security, Hardware Hacking, Space Systems Security
- Attacks and defenses with technical depth
- What the local community is doing to grow technically
- Non-technical talks with actionable content for the community
This is not for BSides CDMX
- Intro to concepts already covered in hundreds of resources
- A disguised product or commercial service pitch
- Content with no technical or actionable component
- The same talk presented at 5+ conferences unchanged
Available formats
What do you want to present?
Talk
A deep technical presentation, or a less technical one with something actionable. We expect a demo, code, or original research, not context slides everyone already knows.
Not ideal: Introduction to basic concepts · Product or vendor presentations · Content already presented at several conferences with nothing new
Workshop
Attendees work, they don't just listen. The goal is that they leave having done something they couldn't do before. Requires prepared materials and environment.
Not ideal: Following a step-by-step tutorial without depth · No real hands-on component
Village
A dedicated space for a specialized topic, with its own program and its own challenges inside the event.
CTF
Design technical challenges for the official BSides CDMX 2027 CTF. Individual or team-based, any category.

Frequently asked questions
Does BSides CDMX cover travel or accommodation?
We can't cover travel or accommodation. Depending on available sponsorship, we sometimes get hotel discounts. We greatly value international speakers who come on their own.
It's my first time presenting. Can I apply?
Yes. The filter is the technical quality of the content, not presenting experience.
Will my talk be recorded?
Yes. All talks are recorded and uploaded to the BSides CDMX YouTube channel. If you'd rather yours wasn't, say so in your proposal and we'll look at it.
Can I propose content in English?
Yes. The event is primarily in Spanish, but we accept English-language speakers.
How are proposals evaluated?
The committee reviews each proposal on technical depth, originality and relevance to the community. The first round is blind: the content is judged without knowing who submitted it.
