Code of Conduct

The main goal of Security BSides CDMX is to provide a platform for and by the information security community; therefore this is a place intented to include a diverse range of paticipants with the unique porpuse of knowledge and experiences exchange. So, this is a friendly, safe and welcoming environment for all, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, age, ability, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, academic background and religion. Remember that you agree to this code (and any update to it) when interacting with any Security BSides CDMX service.

Be mindful

All participants (staff, speakers, facilitators, sponsors and guests) are expected to behave according to this Code of conduct in every moment within the community environment. Please, follow directions from Organizators and Volunteers and be mindful of all the community, both online and live events.

Avoid inappropriate behavior

Attempt collaboration before conflict in every situation. Whether online or during live events, do not intimidate, harass, discriminate, use offensive language, or attack in any form of other community members. Any unacceptable behavior from any community member will not be tolerated and the staff and event organizers will take the appropriate actions on the matter.

Report violations

If you detect any violation of this Code of conduct or any dangereous situation, please inform immediately the staff at BSides CDMX.

Do not mess with the community (or the law)

Do not perform actions against local laws or any applicable regulation that can put you or the community in legal trouble. Unacceptable behaviors include: intimidating, harassing, abusive, discriminatory, derogatory or demeaning speech or actions by any participant in our community online, at all related events and in one-on-one communications carried out in the context of community business. Community event venues may be shared with members of the public; harassment of these patrons of these venues is also unacceptable.

Harassment includes: harmful or prejudicial verbal or written comments related to gender, sexual orientation, race, religion, disability; inappropriate use of nudity and/or sexual images (including presentation slides); inappropriate depictions of violence (including presentation slides); deliberate intimidation, stalking or following; harassing photography or recording; sustained disruption of talks or other events; inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention.

We can and will (re)act

Any unacceptable behavior from any community member will not be tolerated and the staff and event organizers will take the appropiate acctions on the matter; such as exclusion from the conference. Additionally, BSides CDMX organizers are available to help community members engage with local law enforcement or to otherwise help those experiencing unacceptable behavior to feel safe. In the context of in-person events, organizers will also provide escorts as desired by the person experiencing distress.
